practice practice practice….
We did some fun things this summer, and this one of them! It’s a Butterfly habitat park in Alliance. You could use a q tip dipped in sugar water and the butterflies would just land on them and the kids loved it! I just took my camera so I could practice taking some shots in natural light…I’m bound and determined to “get” this camera thing! So these are some shots from that day…I want to eventually look back and see some improvement in my picture taking!

Tyler’s First day of Jr. High!
This is Tyler’s first year at the Middle School…6th grade!! This is hard for both of us I think…
He’s never been nervous before about School…But I think going to a new school that is big…not knowing
where he is going and knowing much more is expected of you is a little scary…
The lock on the locker is a great anxiety too! Then to boot he has to get a 2nd lock for his gym locker!
It’s a lot of stuff to memorize!
I had a hard time this year with pictures!
For Starters the bus comes at 6:40 in the morning – so I’m not diggin the 6am thing AT ALL!Tyler seems to not mind as he has always been an early riser! So it is still pretty dark when he goes to leave. I’ve always walked them down to the end of the driveway on the first day to catch the bus… This year, however, he has to walk over to the driveway next door to get on (I’m going to try to use my “power” as a Sub bus driver to see if they can pick up at the end of our driveway since we have “issues” with those neighbors…) Anyway, I thought since this is the middle school and high school bus combined I shouldn’t go trottin down in my pj’s with my camera to get pictures of him getting on bus…So I just stood afar off watching…wondering how his day would go!

Owen’s Day Out
So, this week the 3 older boys had Dinosaur Camp at the Akron Fossil Museum and I drove them to Copley each day. Instead of driving back home , Owen and I kept ourselves busy running errands and I decided to take him to Tyler’s old hang out spot when he was a Thomas Fan! Quaker Square in Downtown Akron.
The hotel and restaurant are still there , a few old steam engines to look at and some very active tracks perfect for Owen to sit and wait for a train to come…
And not 5 minutes later…
I think he could’ve sat here all day!
Quaker Square used to be a quaint little mall with a fantastic train store “My Little Red Wagon” ~ they have since moved to Stow (which we did on a different day), and other little shops. Most have moved out but the Trackside Grille still remains…which may be Owen’s new favorite restaurant
You get to eat inside the train car!!
The restaurant is pretty empty now cause it’s Summer and the Akron U. students aren’t back yet…but we actually ate for quite the deal! The kids meals are $4.95 and we got 3 huge Chicken Tenders a ton of french fries a kids cup with free refills and to boot a cup of vanilla ice cream with sprinkles!! We split it – and all in all it’s a pretty cheap date!
I think I see many dates with Owen here once the big boys are back in school! It was fun!!

Tyler’s Birthday Party
Not actually Tyler’s Birthday present but we got Macy that weekend see post on “temporary insanity” for more details :-)
Tyler didn’t want to go anywhere for his Birthday for a party – but wanted to have his friends over so they could play football in the backyard! They also played Capture the Flag and Cops & Robbers…They had a great time despite the Mosquito feast!
