Tyler’s Birthday Party

DSC_1227 Not actually Tyler’s Birthday present but we got Macy that weekend see post on “temporary insanity” for more details :-)

DSC_1204 Tyler didn’t want to go anywhere for his Birthday for a party – but wanted to have his friends over so they could play football in the backyard!  They also played Capture the Flag and Cops & Robbers…They had a great time despite the Mosquito feast!

Mini~Vaca Summer 2010

A friend of  mine had offered us 2 free Cedar Point tickets with the option to purchase additional ones at a discounted rate.  They were only good for a certain time period so I decided to plan an impromptu trip to Sandusky, Ohio.  Only problem was it needed to be on the weekend since Eric is working and it needed to be CHEAP!!

I knew the kids would love to play on the beach of Lake Erie – so I set off looking for a hotel that could accommodate 6 of us near Sandusky.  Because of the location and the weekend I was having a hard time finding anything in our (very low) price range…even the “no-tel motel’s that looked pretty scary were expensive.

So, after 3 days of searching I found a little Motel in Huron just 20 minutes outside Sandusky near Vermillion & Beulah Beach called "The Wild Waves  Motel”  They actually had an upstairs “in-law suite/apartment that had enough beds for us all!  And it was only $85.00!!  It had closed it’s pool, but had huge frontage on the beach with plenty of sand and water for the kids to play in!  I wasn’t sure what to expect for the price…so I will say it wasn’t definitely wasn’t a “suite” or extravagant by any means, but it was a living room with trundle bed, separate bedroom with 2 queens, a full very large bathroom, full kitchen…very dated but perfect for the price and to allow us to play on the beach and shower, and sleep for the night!

Temporary Insanity….

Sooo…I swore I would never never ever ever never get a dog again….not sure what happened to that promise?  We were in just a month into our summer vacation and realized we probably weren’t going to be going on any vacations…we were home all the time…the kids asking from the moment they got up: “what can we do”  “where can I go”….entertain me… me …me…me…and so I started thinking maybe if they had a pet…oh geez…here we go…

So I  thought maybe rabbits – but didn’t want to clean cages and deal with them in the winter…Then I actually thought cats…well maybe a kitten – ya know so they are kinda cute and maybe I would like them if they were raised from kittens since I’m not a cat person….

So we set out to an adoption agency on a Thursday and Eric was saying that he has always had cats that were indoor/outdoor…which prompted a “discussion” that I didn’t want them outdoors due to al the strays around and not being able to declaw..etc… and he says I don’t know why we just don’t get a dog.  To which I reply…The only way I would get a dog is if it was a Golden Retriever..and it’s a girl… He say’s “why a girl?”……uhhhhh because I have all the testosterone in the house I can handle with 5 boys!! duh!!! -

My dad raises Golden Retrievers and they are such sweet family dogs that seem to have the temperment that I could deal with.

So that being said – he said well go ahead and look and so out of curiosity I looked on line and found a person with 5 female puppies left.  So off we went to “look”…How can you say no to that cute puppy face???  All the promises of “"I’ll take care of it”  I’ll clean up poo….I’ll walk it….blah blah blah….

So she was this very quiet submissive puppy not really playing much with the others….kinda chillin under a chair by herself.  And I said – that’s the one…I have 4 ADD boys – I can’t do another ADD dog…

So here she is…A very Sweet Golden Retriever named Macy…or Macee, or Macey…not sure how I want to spell it?

So I may create a whole seperate blog for her…as not to bore people who don’t want to hear about my “dog woes” but thought it would give me a chance to keep track of pics without scrapbooking them – since I can’t even keep up with my kids! LOL!
